Digital Transformation Story
A long time ago, employees in big companies set their own workflow process. Companies assumed that employees would define an effecient process for getting the work done.
Fast forward to today and companies are undergoing “digital transformation.” A hype word that means companies are using machines to replace frontline employees doing the manual work. The old process that employees set years ago don’t relate to this new, digitized workflow because data is different when it comes through a machine than through a person.
This leaves the CIO in charge of changing the process.
People Change
There’s another level with this process change—people change.
Since the machines are replacing frontline workers, CIOs are in a position where they either have to level-up and train employees to take over new jobs or they have to hire new personnel. As CIO Sean Perry said, “the CIO isn’t being paid to babysit the infrastructure anymore, to ‘keep the lights on,’ or maintain the status quo. They need to look for the next frontier while keeping the business priorities first. CIOs need to be much more aggressive in looking for new technology that they can bring into the company to deliberately either increase sales and revenue or decrease costs.”
New Technology
When you, CIO, are looking for new technologies, we help you in a couple of different ways:
- Vendor speed dating: Executive Council can go out and find specific new technologies that are relevant. Vendors either come in or call in to give you quick and effecient review.
- Emerging Technology Happy Hours: 4-5 cool new vendors present to a group of IT teams. It’s a chance to network, see some interesting new technology, and get the IT teams more involved in a more relaxed setting.
Deploy New Projects
When you are looking to deploy a new project and need help with technology, people, and process, we help by sharing insights:
- Lessons Learned: Executive Council meets with you and your team to learn about the project. We dive into details like the purpose, strategy, what you’re trying to accomplish, and parameters. We find other CIOs and IT teams who have already executed similar projects. They come in and share their experience and lessons learned with you.
Learn From The Source
Sharing lessons learned means that you can learn how another team chose the vendor, how they negotiated the deal, how they deployed it, and any mistakes they made. This will save you a lot of time and money by avoiding the threat of making a bad purchase. You will make a more informed decision from the get-go by avoiding costly mistakes like pulling out ill-fitting technology.
